For the Record...

This entry is going to be about Lillie and about all the new little things that she is learning how to do, so that I'll remember when she did what. This is doubling as a journal for me, so it might not be a very exciting entry, but heck, it's my blog, I'll do what I want.

Lillie is 6 1/2 mos old. She will be going to the doctor tomorrow for shots and so I will have to add her statistics later. ***Addendum*** She weighed 15 lbs 11 oz (50th percentile), was 27 in long (85th percentile), and did really well with getting her shots! Yay, Lillie.
She is a very good baby, she is very vocal and very wiggly. She loves to "talk," she now says Mamamama and Dadadada, she loves to hear herself scream, and has recently developed a growl. All of this happens while she is happy, though it often sounds like she must be cranky. She has finally learned how to sit up for more than a few seconds, though it is now only a few minutes, then she decides to throw her body to the side so that she can roll away. She is a very efficient roller. She scoots her body around to be parallel to her target and then rolls and rolls until she reaches her goal. Yesterday she started to army crawl on our bed, but hasn't figured it out on the carpet, though she's close.

Lillie is not a big fan of most of her toys. She only likes things that make noise...and cords. Eric has cords running all over our apartment, our place looks like a giant bowl of spaghetti, so she's in heaven. It is often that I find Lil heading for the area behind our entertainment center and I'm lucky if I see her before she's got a cord in her mouth or before she's three times wrapped around her body. She also loves cellphones and computer keyboards. I wasn't so sure when she was little, but I guess Lillie did get at least one thing from her father, a love of technology.

We are starting to have a difficult time at church because of Lil's love of screaming and wiggling. I missed half of my meetings today and am beginning to realize that it will be quite a while before I catch all of the three hours.

She does love jumping in her jumperoo, especially while watching baby einstein. She doesn't like just doing one or the other for very long, but we can usually get a half hour out of her, when they are done together. She loves the hand puppets. I want to buy them, but Eric wants me to make them instead, so I guess she'll just have to do without.

She has started to "go" to people. I hold her and when Eric's nearby, she leans toward him and holds out her arms, it is so cute, but I hear that it will get old. Oh and she also does it to me when Eric's holding her, so all's well. She has just started to cry when Eric leaves, she misses her Daddy when he's at school.

She loves bath time and I'm sure would spend hours in there if we let her. She loves the sound of her voice echoing off the tile and loves to splash around in the water.

She still spits up a ton. I was hoping that once I had weaned her and we started this formula made particularly for babies who spit up alot, that it would change, but it didn't. A week or two ago, we were out to dinner with a big group of friends and Eric held her above his head and she spit up all over his face, glasses and into his eyes. It was a good thing that we were seated outside, because there was quite a mess. She spits up A LOT. It's very frustrating, she's ruined a lot of things, but we've just had to learn to deal with it. Hopefully someday soon she'll grow out of it.

She still is not the best sleeper, but is leaps and bounds from where she used to be. She has started to grab the top rail of her crib, so I guess it's time to lower the mattress.

We love her, she is so funny, I didn't know that babies could be funny. I say often that I wish I could just fast forward a few years for a couple minutes just to see what her personality is like when she grows up. I can't wait to see what things she does as a baby, that she will still do when she's older.

A huge part of me wants her to stay 6 mos forever. It is a great age, but I know that there are great things about every age. And if she stays 6 mos forever, then she most certainly will be an only child. Needless to say, I enjoy every day with her, being a Mom is the best job.
