Family Photos at the Mission

Almost as soon as I found out that we were moving, I called my friend Melissa to see if she had any openings to take some family photos for us.  We had only had one family photo taken since Ian was born and that was in November, when Ian was only a couple weeks old.  Being the awesome person that she is, she squeezed us in two days later, on Henry's birthday.  I just had to pull together the outfits from what we already had, but thankfully I think they worked out quite well.  We were 20 minutes late, Ian had a poopy diaper as soon as we arrived, and he would NOT keep his shoes on.  Still, I am so happy with how they turned out.  I was regretting the decision to get them done as we were getting ready, but now I am so glad we did!

Last Day of Kindergarten

Today is Lillie's last day as the youngest grade in the school.  We are so proud of her and her accomplishments this year.  She finished all of the word lists, all the way to 1000.  Something that only she and one other kindergartener have finished.  The last list is usually passed off by fourth graders.  She spent all year attending a 1st/2nd grade combo for reading, and it was still a breeze to her.  She learned how to tell time, ride a bike, and her handwriting has improved immensely.  She learned how to jump rope and tie her shoes.  She can make her own breakfast and lunch.  She is a little night owl, we have to give her a time limit of how long she can stay up reading, otherwise she would stay up really late.  She is reading chapter books. She has read most of the American Girl series, Junie B. Jones, Ramona Quimby series, Magic Tree House, etc.  She is sad to leave behind some great friends, especially Mariah, but is glad to be moving closer to cousins and she doesn't have problems making new friends, so the future looks bright for our soon-to-be 1st grader.

Cha-cha-CHANGE

On May 30th, Eric found out that his application for early separation from the AF had been approved!!!  This is wonderful news!  Eric had started his application back in December and we had gotten to the point where we were planning on being here the extra year to finish out our commitment since we had not heard back.  Which was fine with us, really.  But then now, our whole world has been turned upside down.  The not-quite-as-wonderful part of our news?  We had three weeks notice.  Which is great and yet not, because we have had to quickly notify our landlords, line up a moving truck and gather boxes.  Oh yeah, and Eric does not have a job lined up yet.  So, ready or not, we are outta here around the 21st.  My house seriously looks like it's been hit by a tornado, it is near impossible to walk through the garage because of boxes, filled and unfilled.  We are planning on driving up to WA to live with my parents until we can figure out where in the NW we want to live.  This is all very stressful.  I am getting little sleep because I just think and stress about it all.  I have to keep telling myself that this was what we wanted!  It's just moving the stress up a year.  It would have been stressful either way.  We feel so very blessed to be given this opportunity to move on with Eric's career, just change is uncomfortable and a bit scary.  I feel bad that we didn't get to do all the things in CA that we wanted (living here 6 years apparently wasn't enough).  We thought we still had one year to see Yosemite, the Sequoias and San Francisco.  Oops.  Eric promises we'll get back here to visit some day.  So if the blog is neglected for a while, whelp, you know what I'm up to.  I'll get caught up sometime.  maybe...
