The Last Two Days

Sunday we went to church, hung out, Eric made pot roast, and then we went on a walk to the top of Muffin Top to get out of the house.  We took an unfamiliar trail to the top of the hill, and it ended up being really sandy and require more than one person to push our jogging stroller to the top.  Oops.  Monday was their last day, our final fun activity was breakfast at McDonalds and letting the kids play in the play place.  They headed back to Los Angeles to catch their flight after that.  We had such a great time, I'm so glad they came, even if their flights were less than ideal.  They had a cancellation on the way here and flight delays both ways.  Ugh.  We spent the rest of Monday after they left moping around.  The kids were unhappy and emotional and I know it was because they missed their grandparents.

Waller Park and Bowling

Saturday was a busy day too.  The morning was filled with a RS activity, 5K run and brunch that I was in charge of, so my mom stayed home with the kids while the men went to the shooting range on base.  After we all met back up, we tried to go to the beach, but it was foggy and really windy (BOO), so we regrouped headed up to Waller Park for fun and lunch. The weather was much better there, a little windy but at least it was sunny.  Waller is a local park that has ducks and goose and after feeding them and eating our own lunch, we headed over to the pony rides.  $3.50 for a half hour ride.  Seriously, the kids finally asked to get off, they just let them go round and round.  Definitely got our money's worth out of it.  That evening, we spent time at the bowling alley on base.  I bowled terribly, even with the bumpers up, but the kids LOVED it and it was fun.

Pismo Beach and Pier

We took a chance and drove up to Pismo Beach.  We lucked out because the rain had stopped by the time we got up there.  And because it had been a rainy day, the beach was empty.  We played in the sand, collected sand dollars, swung on the swing set and walked out to the end of the pier to watch the surfers.  It was GREAT!  I'm so glad we went up there, it was the only real beach time we got that weekend.

 Lillie was sad because she dropped the mini purple sand dollar that she and my mom had found.  It was really pretty and special, too bad it broke.

Nojoqui Falls

My parents came to visit at the end of January!  It was so fun to have them here, we love company, but especially grandparents!  Lillie and Henry attached themselves like leeches.  Seriously, I felt bad for my parents, my kids were crawling all over them and hanging onto them the entire time.  Our first day out was Friday, we crammed a lot of fun things in that day, which ended up being really smart, since the weather was the best that day... even though it was raining.  We started at Nojoqui Falls, then went into Solvang for lunch and fabric shopping, drove up to Pismo Beach, where we visited the Butterfly Forest and the Pier/Beach, and then back tracked to Buellton for dinner at AJ Spurs.  It was a busy but extremely fun day.
