Ahoy, Matey

Last Saturday, a group of dental students and their families were invited to take a harbor cruise in Newport on a yacht owned by a USC dental school alumni. It was an amazing boat (I wish I'd gotten a full shot of it) and it was a really fun time. Lillie loved running around from the front to the back, downstairs and on deck with a bunch of little friends. We were nervous about her falling overboard, so one of us got to follow her around. We saw a lot of beautiful homes, ginormous boats, sea lions and seals. So glad we got to go!

My Baby is 3!!!!

 

Three years ago, my whole life changed, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I am so lucky to be Lillie's momma. She is such a special girl. Lillie is smart, sweet, funny and a wonderful big sister. I can't believe how fast she's growing up. I wish she could stay little forever!

Eric turns the big 3-0 tomorrow and so I put on a birthday bash last Saturday for him. It was ninja turtle themed and so I made eye masks and headbands for everyone...and they were such good sports about wearing them, I was regretting them at the last minute but they were kinda fun. The house was all decked out in 30's and ninja turtle decorations, but I didn't get any photos of that. Anyway, we played games, dance central and ate Eric's favorite snack foods. It was a blast, stayed up too late, but we've got such great friends. Gonna miss em in a few months.
I've also got such a great husband, he deserves to be celebrated every once in a while. I'm excited for him to be this new age group, I'm determined that our thirties are going to be as much, or more so, fun than the twenties were/are.

Present for a Princess

 

I just wanted to post this picture for my mom of the Rapunzel dress I made yesterday for Lillie's birthday that's coming up in a week and a half. We saw Tangled while in Utah and we loved it! Especially Lillie. So I got her a doll and made this dress to give her on her big day. She saw the top half of the dress while I was making it, but I finished the rest of it after she was asleep. So I think she'll still be surprised. I think I'll still add some trim around the sleeves and I'm toying with the idea of making a giant braid out of yellow yarn to finish off the look (the braid probably won't happen by her birthday as I need to focus my attention on Eric's party) someday. I roughly followed instructions from the "Make It and Love It" blog. And then added the overlay to make it more Rapunzel-esk. I'll hem it once she's tried it on. But I'm so happy with the way it turned out, she's gonna love it!

The Beginning of 2011

Hello, 2011! Seriously, I don't think I've ever look forward to the upcoming year more! Bring it on!

Tomorrow my baby turns 7 months old. And can I just say that I LOOOVVVVEEEE this age! Henry is SO MUCH FUN right now! He is army crawling all over the place, is a pro at sitting up, even going from crawling to sitting. He can grab tiny things on the floor and put them in this mouth, is super ticklish and goofy. Henry has started to take a bottle (hallelujah) and has gotten good at napping and sleeping at night. He is so entertained by his sister and by himself. I love it. And best of all, he thinks that I'm the greatest thing on earth! Gotta love being the favorite. He's got a single tooth and drools and spits up all over. He loves eating baby food and wants badly to be a big boy. Such a happy and content (right now) kid.

Sometimes I wish that he could stay this age forever, but then I think about all the fun and awesome things about Lillie and so then I think, okay, I guess he can turn two but the jury is still out about whether he can grow up past that.

Lillie is turning 3 in less than 2 weeks and Eric turns 30 in a little over a week. This month is a busy one for me with birthdays, I also have two sisters with birthdays and a soon-to-be-born niece. This is a big birthday milestone for Eric and so he gets the big party while Lillie is just going to get a little one. Because Eric will only get a party (not that he wants it) once a decade, I guess I can be okay with the fact that Lillie will take the backseat this year. Besides, I hear that 3 year olds throw the worst tantrums. I'm a little worried about this age.

Lillie has been so sweet lately and says the funniest things. I love being around her, she's always good for a laugh. She gives hugs and kisses freely and has started to say "I love you, too" consistently. She hasn't thrown many fits either.

Eric is picking up a wing back chair that I saw on craigslist today. I'm going to try my hand at reupholstery. My grandma has dabbled in it a bit and so I have a feeling I'll be asking her a question or two. I found this awesome polka dot fabric online but at $3o a yards, it's a big no can do. One yard is the price of the chair and ottoman. I need something to go into Lillie or Henry's room for reading books together. It's a little tight with the three of us in our glider. I hope I can actually complete it. Ha! Anyway, I'm excited for a new project.

Eric started his last semester (hopefully) today. He's got a lot to do before graduation. I hope it all works out without too much stress. It's our last push to the finish line. Holy Smokes!

Christmas 2010

At the last minute, Eric's aunt had an extra ticket to the David Archuleta and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert and so I was able to go! Eric stayed home with the kids, such a great guy! I got three hours of sleep that night, Henry slept terribly on the vacation and there was a fire alarm that went off at 4 am. So I caught myself drifting off to sleep occasionally, but it was actually a lot of fun and was a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
We had fabulous seats, nine rows behind the Prophet, right in the middle. I've decided that great seats make a huge difference. It was a neat experience, thanks Kris!

Lillie and Emmett played so well together. We really wish that we lived closer to them. Emmett is so funny, he always winks at the camera and so almost all of our photos of him are one eyed. There was snow about the first half of our vacation but we didn't get pictures of it. Lillie and Eric made a snowman and Lillie already knew what to do. She said he needed rocks for eyes and a carrot for the nose...

The Luke 2 reinactment this year had three Marys. Lisa was pregnant Mary, I was Mary post partum with Henry playing the part of baby Jesus and Lillie decided that she didn't want to be the angel but that she wanted to be Mary too.

Family photo with Tyler's friend Chen Chen. She became Lillie's newest best friend and was so good at playing with the kids. We were glad that she was there.

Eric's cousin brought over his xbox kinect and dance central. Such a FUN game. I want it! Here's my father-in-law showing off his moves.

I love this picture of Henry, he looks so old. I feel like I can get a glimpse of what he'll look like as an adult from this photo.

Lillie and Emmett made a gingerbread house with Uncle Tyler and Chen Chen. Lillie's favorite part was eating all the candy off of it.

I knocked the Christmas tree over on Christmas day while trying to retrieve a present. Stupid tree, I didn't even touch it. I moved a present a quarter of an inch and it fell over. I felt really dumb. Thank goodness no one was under it. Lillie bawled her head off though.

All Henry wanted for Christmas was his two front teeth. And he got one of them. I guess that might have been partly why he slept so poorly. SO GLAD to be home in our own beds, getting full nights of sleep.

We met up at Temple Square with some of our friends who were visiting from N. Carolina. Love them! Some of the funnest and best people I've ever met. We miss them and wish that we were still neighbors.

The temple square lights were so beautiful, too bad it was so cold!

Lillie and Nya quickly became good friends and Lil cried when we parted ways.

It was so nice being around family for the Christmas season. I realized this year, a little bit, how much work the holiday season is. Kinda overwhelming. But the kids had fun with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a cousin.

As fun as it was, I'm glad the Christmas season is over! Bring on 2011!

Dance Recital

Lillie had her first dance recital today. She danced to "I've Got No Strings" from Pinocchio and did a great job. She even added in a few extra twirls. All week long I tried to get Lillie to wear her tutu around the house to practice for the recital and wouldn't ever put it on, but thank goodness, today she was okay with it. She looked so cute! Anyway, it was a quick three minutes of stage time, but she has loved her dance class.





What's a public outing without a mini meltdown at the end? That's how we know when it's time to go.
